Description

Datasheet — LRX.pdf
  • Aluminum housed wirewound resistors are high-power, rugged components designed for efficient heat dissipation, typically ranging from 5W to 500W. Encased in aluminum for superior thermal transfer, these resistors are ideal for chassis mounting in harsh environments. They are widely used in power supplies, braking systems, and industrial equipment

  • Specifications:
  1. Power Ratings: Commonly available from 5W to 300W or higher
  2. Resistance Range: Broad range, often 0.05R to 100kR
  3. Tolerance: ±1%,±5%
  4. Temperature Range: Designed for extreme environments, typically -55℃ to +275℃
  5. Construction: Wirewound resistive element encased in an anodized aluminum shell with a ceramic core
  6. Mounting: Designed for chassis mount, often with screw terminals or solder lugs to enhance heatsinking

  • Applications:
  1. Braking Resistors: Used for absorbing regenerative energy in motors
  2. Power Supplies: Used as load resistors or in filtering circuits
  3. Industrial Automation: Transducers, inverters, and machinery
  4. LED Projects: Used for regulating current in high-power LED applications

Technical specifications

Rated Power 5W to 500W
Mounting Type Chassis mount
Housing Aluminum

Key features

  • Heatsinking: For maximum power dissipation, they must be mounted on a metal plate or heat sink
  • Derating: It is recommended to increase the rated power by 30%–50% over the actual power required to manage heat, especially if not using an external heat sink
  • Safety: These resistors operate at very high temperatures and should not be touched while in use

Customization

Power rating, resistance value, dimensions and lead configuration can be adjusted to your drawing.

  • Custom resistance values and tolerance
  • Custom power ratings and package dimensions
  • Lead length and configuration options
  • Drawing review before production
